Location: Tom’s basement workshop 3540 Caney Creek Ln
(come around back and use patio entrance please). We’re at the very end of Caney Creek Ln – go past Brookwood elementary, thru the 3 way stop, take the first left and come to the very end.

All you need to bring is your Racer kit and a design idea. I recommend everyone do the following prior to the workshop:

-remove the wood block from your kit
-trace the profile of the block (side and top) onto a piece of paper
-mark the axle slots on the paper
-mark ‘front’ and ‘rear’ on the paper

Do the above several times and then let your scout sketch out his ideas (both side view and top view).
Once he has one he likes, give him a pair of scissors and ask him to cut out the profiles, then let him transfer the outline to the block, making sure to match up axle slots and front/rear marks. Then you’ll be ready to cut and shape when you arrive on Saturday.

Dads/Moms can use bandsaw, scrollsaw and sanding stations for shaping your cubs idea. Cubs can (with oversight) use the drill press for polishing your axles and wheels.

If you have weights, then bring them. If you don’t have weight, you can stop by a sporting goods shop that carries fishing tackle and get some lead or tungsten fishing weights.

Once your car is shaped, you can check the weight on the regulation scale and add weight as necessary, with your goal being to reach as close to 5.0oz without going over.

God and Me is for 1st – 3rd graders and lasts for 5 Sundays (4pm – 5:30pm).
God and Family is for 4th and 5th graders and lasts 7 weeks. The start date is January 8.

NOTE: Space is limited, so register soon!

The banquet is free to all our registered youth who have earned a religious emblem during 2011. All others must pay the banquet fee of $12.00 ($6.00 for children six and under).

We will have games, archery & BB guns, crafts, and hikes. Bring your fishing pole and fish for in Lake Toccoa or spend the afternoon relaxing on the front porch in a rocking chair. We have something for everyone.

Don’t forget about the special campfire on Saturday night. Attend as a Pack, the more friends the better!
